현대시립미술관 Hyundai Art Museum

저번주 주말에 과천에 위치한 현대 시립미술관을 방문했다. 이모가 경복궁옆에 있는 터에 새로만들어질 현대시립미술관 프로젝트에 참여했기 때문인데, 아쉽게도 본선 5개팀중에 1위로 뽑히지는 못했다.

올리는 사진은 1위로 뽑힌 팀의 도면과 모형이다. 한양대학교 건축캠프에서 여러가지의 도면을 보긴 했으나 이렇게 많은것들이 상세하게 기재되있는줄은 몰랐다. 그렇기 때문에 건축에 조금 더 관심을 가질 수 있는 계기가 된 것같다.

건축도면에는 내가 생각했던 것들보다 더 많은것들이 상세하게 기재 되어 있었다. 건물의 위치와 보행자의 통로, 주변시설과의 조합 등 많은 것들이 이에 해당된다. 내 생각에는 주변환경과 더 잘 어우러지게끔 건물의 높이를 낮게 하고, 주워진 면적을 실용적으로 잘 활용한것 같다는 생각이 든다. 그 이유는 건물과 건물 사이에 공간을 둬서 답답한 느낌을 주지 않고, 편안한 느낌을 주면서도, 여러가지의 예술작품을 각 건물에 비슷한 분류의 작품들만 모아 간편하게 관람할 수 있도록 만들었기 때문이다.

다만 내가 이 프로젝트에 참여했다면 건물들을 전부 사각형의 모형으로 설계하지 않고, 사각형, 굽은 모형 등 다양한 형태의 건물들로 만들었을 것 같다. 왜냐하면 미술관을 설계하는 프로젝트인 만큼, 건물들 자체에도 예술성을 조금이나마 심기 위해서이다.

I visited Hyundai Art City Museum which is located in Gwa Cheon. I went there because my aunt participated in designing the new Hyundai Art City Museum which will locate next to Kyeong Bok Palcace. Sadly, she did not win the first place but as you can see in the picture, the team that won the project had a very sophisticated blue print and sample model. Even after the Hanyang Architecture camp, I did not realize that so many things would be written in the blue print and sample model, such as locations of buildings and the hall ways. I think the harmony with the surrounding environment is critical for a beautiful design.

If I participated in this project, I would not design all the buildings in rectangular shapes but add some different shapes like square or bent shape because it is a project that design an art museum, so I want to add some beauty in it.
